June Influencer Spotlight

She does it with style, she does it with grace, and she does it beautifully. Embodies femininity and poise that is. It has been such a delight watching Miss Lady, aka Kyra, evolve as a fashion and beauty blogger and we look forward to following her journey as she "solidifies her place among other editorial bloggers!" It is our pleasure to present to some and introduce to others, Kyra Auguste, our spotlight of the month!

1) What is your brand name and what inspired you to start it?

My brand is MissLady. Growing up, I have always been interested in fashion and beauty. The older I become, I try to understand my “look” as I invest in an image that best suits me. By the time I graduated from college back in August of 2016, I decided to develop a platform that allows me to share my style as it matures.

2) With so many fashion blogs and influencers out there now a days, how are you able to stand out from others within your niche?

Being a black woman who was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, I have an appreciation of varying styles. Jacksonville is not known as a city bursting with diversity. However, I was lucky enough to have exposure to the different styles that stem from various communities in town. At the core, I am drawn to anything that is chic, elegant and sophisticated. Ever so often, I am inclined to give my outfits a bit of an edge to set me apart from what is expected. Keeping those three adjectives in mind, I strive to depict myself in a way that flaunts my strongest attributes in a lady-like manner; regardless of dressing casually, professionally, sexy or modest, along with everything in between. As a twenty three year old in the midst of the social media era, it is so easy to lose sight of your individuality. I tend to shy away from trends and hone into the qualities that make me MissLady.

3) What do you love most about being an Influencer.

Influence (n)

“The capacity to have an effect on the character development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.”

Knowing the meaning of “influence”, I actually prefer to call myself a blogger instead of an influencer. We get caught up in thinking that certain individuals have the power to influence due to their presence on an app. When considering day-to-day interactions, we are all influencers in our own right. In that case, if all of us are influencing each other, what is the point of proclaiming it a title? Even a toddler has the ability to influence those around it. That being said, I truly enjoy being a fashion blogger. If anything, I use it as a vehicle to shed light on what I consider pertinent issues in society. The more my platform grows, I intend on attracting a wider audience through my style, in order to capture them with my voice.

4) Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

Within the next five years, I hope to solidify my place among other editorial bloggers. Just to name a few, I truly admire ladies such as Camila Coelho, Micah Gianneli and Leonie Hanne. They are a powerhouse for inspiration and stand alongside top designers when time to release the seasons’ latest fashion. They are such sophisticated woman and I hope to lead my platform in that direction.

5) What are a few fun facts about you that people may not know from following your blog or instagram.

What a lot of people may not realize, I love listening to all types of music. Not only are my parents of an older generation, they are Haitian immigrants. As a result, I grew up listening to popular French classic artists such as Charles Aznavour, to Kompa (a genre a music derived from Haiti), to Fleetwood Mac and Neil Diamond. By the time I reached middle school, I started to widen my musical exposure to the more popular and recent artists. At this point, I have dabbled across many cultures, genres and eras of music. Along with my wide taste of music, I took piano lessons throughout all of grade school. I no longer play as often as I would like but, I still enjoy playing my favorite songs: Imagine By John Lennon and If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys.

6)How can you be contacted? What are all of your social media handles?
